Roulette is a game named after a French word meaning, “little wheel”. In Roulette you can place bets on numbers from 1-38. Once bets have been placed, the wheel is spun in one direction, and a little silver ball is spun in the opposite direction. Whichever number the ball lands on wins.

The Growth of Roulette

Roulette is believed to be a fusion of British, Italian and French games. It has been played in present form since 1796 in France. The current casino form has been played since 1843 when it was first played in Homburg Germany.

There are two different versions of Offline Roulette – European and American. The American version has numbers from 00-38 while the European roulette game has numbers from 0-37. In America, most notably “Las Vegas”, the majority of all used Roulette wheels has the numbers 00, 0, 1 all the way 38 while in Europe the numbers are 0,1,2,3 all the way to 37.

During the 1800’s, Roulette rapidly grew into the most popular casino game, and was eventually banned in Germany along with all other forms of gambling. Due to this, all Roulette was moved to the Monte Carlo, which became the casino for the elite where roulette continued to flourish.

Online Roulette

Online Roulette is the most recent type of online casino game to emerge, and almost every online version uses the American roulette standard of double zeros.

In online roulette, people play via their computers either online against other players, or against the computer. When playing against other players around the globe, player make bets electronically with real money, which is transferred via PayPal for the most part. Some versions provide you with fake money, and no real monetary gain or loss is incurred.

In Online roulette, the users place bets as they do in offline roulette on the numbers they want. The virtual roulette table is then spun, and the results appear onscreen, awarding the winner.
